This year’s 9U Nomads Elite of Westminster, California is a derivative of last year’s 8U HB Nitro Elite. That 8U Nitro team was one of the top teams having reached the semi-finals of the USSSA World Series =ast year along with winning 12 other significant tournaments. but that team split into three different teams this year. The core team now returns as the “Nomads Elite” and it is no surprise that many of the players are former Nitros. Thus far in 2010, the Nomads Elite have won 6 of 9 tournaments in which they have competed. Their Recent tournaments wins include the Triple Crown San Diego Open, the Chino Hills Easter Classic, the President’s Day NIT, WBA Cash Back, USSSA Daylight Savings, plus their championship win at the March Triple Crown Qualifier. As of this writing, their overall record now stands at roughly 38-5 as of this writing.

The Nomads Elite field teams from 8U through 12U. They are managed by Jose Murillo who has a passion for baseball. He loves working to help develop young athletes. Jose has coached baseball at the high school levels, but now uses his skills to manage and organize this team in such a way that they learn to be winners. Their main goal is to get them ready for high school play and ready for ready to meet their Academics challenges. Both Jose and Wes emphasize scholastic achievement, backed by effort and hard play, combined with a “never give up” mentality.
The Nomads are coached by Wes Ethridge, who has many years coaching elite travel baseball teams - including the California Red Wings, and HB Nitro. Those teams have spun a number of great athletes who will comprise this and next year’s top prospects for the MLB draft, or for D1 scholarships at major institutions.
With these two leaders at the helm, it is not surprising that the trademark of the 9U Nomads Elite is tough defense, backed by solid pitching, reinforced by aggressive offensive play, capped by exceptional base running skills. To do this, a team must have fast athletes who can play smart baseball - and that describes this team from A to Z:
#57 Justin “Drama” Almeda (CF) is an exceptional outfielder. He is always making big plays in dramatic fashion. This young athlete can take over a game with his exceptional ability. He is a scrappy hitter who bats 7th in line-up and also has blazing speed with exceptional base running skills. On defense, he brings an outstanding glove to centerfield and has the uncanny ability and determination to run down the hard to catch balls.

"Drama"
#33 Albert Alvarez (C-IF-OF) is the Nomads starting catcher. He has worked very hard and is becoming a very solid catcher who seems to have no limit to his upside. Although he bats 8th in the Nomads line-up, he hits with high average and connects with very good placement.

"
#13 Hunter Elkins (LF) is a young 8 who hustles every day. He is becoming a solid player who will anchor teams in coming seasons. Hunter makes great plays including some awesome catches in the outfield. He is a good bunter who seldom strikes out. he finds ways to get on base. Once on base, he uses his excellent speed and superior base running skills to make big impacts for his team.

"Hunter"
#16 Junior 'The Game "Gutierrez (C-P-IF/OF) is a phenomenal catcher who can play all positions. While he can play the infield or the outfield, his main focus is on pitching and catching. He bats for high average and also is an excellent bunter. He seems to always find ways to get that “much needed” hit in key game situations.

"The Game"
#22 Corey "The Man" Lewis (P-3B-SS) is one of the top Nomads Pitchers. He is the younger brother of Chad Lewis, one of the top high school prospects in the country. Corey often pitches the big games. He also plays exceptionally well at 3rd base and can fill in at shortstop - when needed. Corey is a kid with both size and speed. He hits #3 in the line-up and that speaks loudly for his skills.

"The Man"
#10 Basilio "La Gasolino" Pacheo (OF-P-1B) is an outstanding lefty =itcher who throws the ball very hard yet retains command and control over the plate. One will often see him on the mound as a closer. He bats 5th in the Nomads line-up, and hits with both power and for average.
" La Gasolina"
#20 Ryan “ Big Rhino” Machiel (1B-P) is lefty pitcher with a strong arm. He pitches with speed and control and often is on the mound in key games. “Rino” is also a game changing player who hits the ball exceptionally well. He bats 6th in the Nomads line-up and he seems to always bring the base runners home. His coaches =escribe him as a phenomenal athlete who has big time potential.
"Big Rhino"
#3 Ilish Marquez (OF) is currently recovering from a serious setback. His skills and presence have been really being missed by his team. Fortunately, he is continuing his comeback development and the team hopes to get him back very soon.
"Marquez"
#2 Sebastian “Seabas” Murillo 2B, is an excellent athlete. He has already proven that he not only has the skills to with the 9U’s, but also can hold his own playing up with the 10U Nomads. “SeaBas” is an outstanding 2nd baseman who plays a smart game as he knows the game inside and out far above his years.
"Seabas"
He is also an excellent hitter who bats in the Nomads #2 =lot. He has the knack for getting on base whether by crunch hit, bunt, or walk. Once he gets on base, he uses his speed and game smarts and becomes an outstanding runner.
#12 Anthony "Meeklo" Rivera (P-3B-OF) is one of the Nomads top pitchers. He can pitch so well that he sometimes pitchers for the 10U teams in this organization. He is also their #4 hitter as he can crush the ball with great power and good average. He is an awesome outfielder with a very strong arm who has frequently made the long, but accurate throws from the outfield to get base runners out.

"Meeklo"
#18 Raider "The Glove" Tello is an 8U who plays like a 10U and is the Nomads’ starting shortstop. He brings a =henomenal glove and with exceptional hands to this position. He is a coach’s delight as he listens and executes. Coach Wes describes him as being one of the very best shortstops he has ever coached – and that speaks volumes, considering the talent that Coach Wes has worked with over the years. “Raider” is the Nomads lead-off hitter. He is a leader and a game changer.

"The Glove"
#99 Jermey “Bam-Bam” Wiegman (P-IF/OF) is an exceptional player who bats 4th for the Nomads and would likely bat 4th for any team he played on. You guessed it, he is a great hitter. He has an exceptionally strong arm and can pitch with master and control. He is a very tall and strong kid who is a game changer.
"BAM BAM"
The trait of this Nomads Elite team is that they play tough defense, have solid pitchers, and run the bases aggressively. On top of that, they believe in themselves and they know how to win. This makes them a serious threat against the best of the best.
While the Nomads Elite play with class and sportsmanship, they will fight to the end and never give up. So, one can always expect that any match up with this team will be a challenge – the type of challenge that every coach wants his team to face. When it is all over, both teams walk away better than when they started.
